Writing Excuses Podcast

I thought it would be useful from time to time to share tools I am using to improve my writing. With that in mind, let’s start with the Writing Excuses podcast.

I found this podcast through being a fan of Brandon Sanderson’s work. He is one of the four hosts alongside Dan Wells, Howard Tayler and Mary Robinette Kowal. They have extended their presenter lineup and often have guest authors, editors, publishers, and people from other industries where creative writing is involved (e.g. video games and theatre).

Each podcast is around 15 minutes long (the tagline is ‘15 minutes long, because you’re in a hurry, and we’re not that smart’). I’ve found the length of each episode really useful as well as the fact that they cover the entire publishing process from drafting, editing, alpha/beta readers, querying and publishing. There are also 15 seasons of content (at the time of writing) so plenty of topics to explore.

Finally, I have discovered some fantastic books through their audible recommendations.
